As the leading exterior painting company in Yorktown and Williamsburg, Virginia we have completed thousands of exterior painting projects. One of the most popular questions we get asked is how long will my exterior paint project last? The answer as always depends on multiple factors.
The two main factors are location of your home (waterfront vs non waterfront) and current condition of your home.
If you are non waterfront and your home is in average condition I would expect your paint job to last five to six years. Yes, it could last longer, but this is the time that we start to see the color be less vibrant and the caulking starting to open up, which could lead to moisture damage.
If your home is on the waterfront, does not get any sun or to much sun you may have to paint a year or two prior, but this 5-6 year baseline is a great way to budget for your next exterior paint project.
